Oriol Maria Diví – Ex-Libris
The book compiles the entire collection of bookplates created by Oriol Maria Diví.
572 bookplates were made between 1960 and 2011, 499 of which are woodcuts from boxwood. It contains 25 original bookplate prints derived from the original wooden block.
The high quality of the details and the woodcut technique that Father Oriol has acquired over the years have made this Benedictine monk a well-known figure and one of the last Catalan masters in the art of woodblock printing.
The book includes three essays: one about the life and xilographic work of the monk written by M. Carme Illa; another about the ex-libris world written by Mn. Joan Roig; and finally, one about the history of woodcut by Sergi Mas.
It has been reproduced from the private bookplate collection of Oriol Maria Diví. All bookplates have been arranged chronologically.
